Impressions of Denmark
We concentrate this report on Copenhagen, a city of style, not the capital of a world empire, but clearly with the clout of a prestigious capital of importance and influence. Danes going about their daily business in Copenhagen are not the most extravert people in the world, neither the most easy-going ones. But the capital city they have created over centuries belongs to the absolute top in style, in beauty, and in many other ways. The old town consists of a blend of tiny alleys, picturesque canals, parks, royal palaces and old, charming buildings, often dating back to a vast stretch of time between the 17th century and the 'Danish Golden Age' of the early 19th century, when Denmark produced an impressive lot of world-class literature, sculpture, scientific discovery and more. Simultaneously, Copenhagen is the scene of bold new architecture along its cozy and attractive Inner Harbour, highlighting the fact that Danish society remains dynamic and resilient, keen on innovation and avant-gardism. Past and future, one has it both ways to observe in Copenhagen.

As a green extension of the Botanical Gardens, a large public park with pools and lush natural vegetation surrounds the Statens Art Museum, Denmark's most important gallery of paintings and sculpture. The building in the style of Italian Renaissance dates back to 1896.
